Jeffrey Johnson began his journey as our Senior Pastor in January 2001. Prior to coming to Houston he served in ministry in Oklahoma, Iowa, and Tennessee.
Jeffrey has pastored and served on the ministry staff of other Nazarene churches since graduating from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1988. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee (1985), and received his Doctorate of Ministry degree at Asbury Theological Seminar in Wilmore, Kentucky. Degrees are not his highest priority, however. Pastor Jeffrey seeks to keep it simple by loving God and loving others, and hopes to lead our church community to do the same.
Jeffrey and his wonderful wife Julie have two bright and beautiful daughters, Jenae and Jana. He loves sports of all kinds, but especially golf and Oklahoma Sooner football...but please, don't hold that against him!
If you have needs or questions or a desire to be involved at Houston First Church, please feel free to contact Pastor Jeffrey at the church office, 281-897-0300 or email to jeffrey@hfcnaz.org
Chad Penner started his ministry as HFC Student Ministries Pastor in January 2002. Prior to coming to Houston he served in ministry in Oklahoma while attending Southern Nazarene University (SNU).
While at SNU he majored in religion while playing basketball, playing in school bands, singing in school music groups as well as being a resident advisor. Although Chad was very active in college he leads a simple life in which all of his desires revolve around one main goal: to grow closer to God and become more like Christ every day. He believes that this goal will pull all of his life aspirations together.
Chad and his wife Jen were married in July of 2000. Jen played volleyball while attending SNU. Chad and Jen both enjoy many sports and playing with their son Sean.

Joy joined our church staff as pastor to Children and their families in March 2005. Before her move to Houston she lived in Nashville, TN where she worked as a volunteer in the Children’s department at Trevecca Community Church.
She attended Trevecca Nazarene University and received a degree in Music Business which she was going to use to pursue a career as an Artist Manager. God’s plans were different. During the summer of 2001, God made it clear to her to travel and speak to kids about the unfailing love that God has for each of us. The past four years have been devoted to telling kids everywhere she goes that Jesus loves them no matter what.
Joy’s goal here at HFC is to create a place for kids and their parents to learn the truth in ways that take them to the place where they can encounter God.

Rhonda began her role as Early Childhood Director here at HFC in the Fall of 1996. She made her move to Houston from Niagara Falls, New York, graduating from Eastern Nazarene College in 1990.
While at ENC, she majored in elementary education, and prior to coming to HFC, Rhonda worked as a teacher in a Houston public school and then later as an administrative assistant at a church - all of which well prepared her for her position here!
Rhonda’s love for children and the opportunity to teach them about Jesus is the motivation behind all she does. The Mother’s Day Out program has been a continuing success, offering quality care for children, and outreach to families who don’t yet know Christ. All the Nursery and Preschool activities are also coordinated by Rhonda.
If you have questions or would like to be involved in the Early Childhood Dept. here at HFC, please contact Rhonda at the church office at 281-897-0300 or email Rhonda@hfcnaz.org.
